A homeowner’s personal security system and good police work leads to the arrest of a Salina man accused of damaging a front door.
According to Police Captain Paul Forrester, 23-year-old Marco Alvarez was arrested on Sunday morning around 7:30am for trespass and felony damage to property after officers reviewed surveillance video from a home in the 2400 block of Glencoe.
The video showed a man kicking a door and breaking pottery near the entryway.
A Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper alerted officers that he had seen a possible suspect they were looking for walking along the dyke near the E. Magnolia soccer fields. Alvarez was taken into custody a short time later after being positively identified as the man in the video.
Officers also found him in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine.
Damage to a couple of doors and flower pots is estimated at $1,020.
