The Ell-Saline varsity basketball squads were swept on Tuesday evening by Southeast of Saline, spoiling the Senior Night festivities in Brookville.
The Trojan girls utilized an effective full-court press combined with an aggressive 1-3-1 half court trap to force 20 Cardinal turnovers in the first half while building a 21-8 halftime edge. Southeast of Saline turned on the offense in the third quarter, outscoring Ell-Saline 14-4 to take a healthy 35-12 advantage into the fourth quarter before the Trojans put it on cruise control en route to a 36-18 win.
Southeast of Saline (11-8) was led in scoring by freshman Karsyn Schlesener, who finished with a game-high 12 points.
Ell-Saline (0-19) received a strong effort off the bench from junior Paige Vogt, who led the Cardinals with eight points in the loss.

In the nightcap, the Ell-Saline boys fell behind 31-21 at the half. Early in the third quarter, Southeast of Saline pushed the lead out to 16 before the Cardinals began an impressive comeback.
Trailing 42-30 entering the fourth quarter, Ell-Saline stormed back, pulling to within three at 48-45, but would get no closer as the Trojans hit free throws down the stretch to seal a 58-51 win.
Southeast of Saline (5-14) was led by a stellar effort from senior Nick Montgomery, who finished the night with 20 points to lead all scorers. Junior Seth Eklund and sophomore Jaxson Gebhardt each chipped in nine points in the Trojan victory.
Ell-Saline (3-17) received strong efforts on the offensive end from junior Sawyer Kramer and sophomore Treyton Peterson, who tallied 17 and 15 points respectively in the Cardinal loss.
