An Emporia State University associate professor is charged with a child sex crime.

Seventy-two-year-old Howard Pitler was arrested Wednesday at his home in Overland Park and booked on one count of electronic solicitation of a child less than 14-years-old.

The alleged incident took place in February 2023. Pitler has been placed on paid administrative leave.
