A vehicle which was originally believed to be “leaving the scene” of a fatal accident has been located.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the incident involved a fatality along Interstate 70 in Russell County early Friday morning.
Shortly after 5:00 Friday morning a deceased person was located in the eastbound lanes of I-70 in Russell county. An unoccupied parked vehicle was on the shoulder of the road.
The agency is investigating this event as a suicide.

ORIGINAL: A hit and run driver is being sought following an incident involving a fatality along Interstate 70 in Russell County early Friday morning.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, shortly after 5:00 Friday morning a deceased person was located in the eastbound lanes of I-70 in Russell county. An unoccupied parked vehicle was on theĀ shoulder of the road.
The agency is investigating this event as a vehicle vs pedestrian fatal crash.
There is not a description of the suspect vehicle leaving scene, but it is believed to have front end damage and was headed east.
The Kansas Highway Patrol’s Critical Highway Accident Response Team has been requested to diagram the scene.
Trooper believe they have located what was originally believed to be a "leaving the scene" vehicle.
