A father and his 2-year-old son have been rescued from a Johnson County lake.
The Kansas City StarĀ reports that the toddler fell out of boat Friday morning while fishing with his father. Capt. Eric Barnum of the Olathe Fire Department says the father jumped in to help, but the boat got away from them.
Other fisherman saw the runaway boat and told emergency crews from Olathe and Overland Park that were training at Lake Olathe. Firefighters in two rescue boats sped toward the father and son.
But Barnum said that by the time firefighters got there, other fishermen had pulled the father and son from the water and retrieved their boat.
Firefighters met the father and son at the dock. They were shaken but uninjured.
