Festival Prep

Tomorrow night the River Festival kicks off with the Festival Jam at 6 p.m., but until then city workers flock to Oakdale Park to help set up for this weekend’s events.

The big white tents flapped in the wind as workers finished their construction; a group of women worked to spread mulch at the base of a flagpole.

“When River Fest comes around we just have to go wherever we’re needed, make it look all nice for everybody who comes,” Taylor Albers, a city worker said.

Eric Stein stage, the feature venue for the Festival Jam and the larger acts that come to Salina was receiving its own little makeover in preparation for this weekend, now displaying artful banners and hanging speakers.

The 37th annual River Festival is scheduled for Thursday through Sunday, June 6-9 with gates opening tomorrow at 4 p.m.
