A woman was badly burned in a fire which damaged a North Salina rental home late Monday night.
First responders were called to the report of a structure fire at 9:36 in the evening in the 300 block of N. 11th Street. Upon arrival they discovered a home at 319 N. 11th Street fully engulfed.
Fire Investigator Jeff Daily told KSAL News two people live in the home. One of them was home at the the time, the other was away at work.
According to Daily the person who was home, identified as Denise Johnson, escaped as firefighters were preparing to make entry. She was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center, then transferred to a Wichita hospital to be treated for “significant burns”,
The home suffered major damage.
Daily says the the cause of the fire is undetermined at this point, but an investigation continues.
