Kansas Wesleyan’s Courtney Heinen (JR/Axtell, Kan.) has been selected as the KCAC Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in a pair of games for the Coyotes last week. The KCAC Player of the Week program is administered by the conference sports information directors.
Heinen came off the bench in a pair of games last week for KWU, at No. 19 Tabor and against York with two career performances for the Coyotes.
In Wednesday’s game at No. 19 Tabor, she scored a career high 23 points, shooting 50 percent from the field and 8-of-9 at the free throw line.
Then in KWU’s win over York on Saturday, she did it again this time scoring 24 points and had four rebounds and four assists and two steals while shooting 54 percent from the field and hit a career-high six 3-pointers in the game all in just about 20 minutes of action.
Heinen averaged 23.5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.5 steals last week while shooting 51.9 percent from the field and 63.6 percent from 3-point range.
Wesleyan is 11-6 overall and 9-2 in the KCAC, taking on archrival Bethany on Monday night in Lindsborg at 6 p.m. in a First Bank Kansas Smoky Hill Showdown contest.
