Kansas residents could soon be paying lower grocery taxes.

A proposal in the legislature calls for allowing voters to decide if they want to pay less at the grocery store.

The measure calls for lowering the grocery tax to four percent by July 2019 and to two percent in July 2020.

If the proposal is approved by lawmakers, it would then head to the voters for their consideration.
