May Fireworks Application Deadline Approaching

The application deadline for those wanting to sell fireworks in Salina and Saline County is approaching. Officials are spreading the word that the deadline is in mid-May.

The Saline County Planning Department would like to notify the public that applications for a temporary fireworks stand must be submitted on or before 5:00 p.m. on May 20th. All applications require appropriate documentation and must include a permit fee of $1,000 made payable to Saline County. Proceeds are directed to rural fire districts. Interested applicants may contact Saline County Planning for details at 300 W. Ash St., Room 217, by calling 785-309-5813, or on the web at www.saline.org under the planning and zoning tab beginning April 28th.

If your fireworks facility will be located within the city limits of Salina, please contact the City Planning Division at 785-309-5720 or visit 300 W. Ash St., Room 201. City fireworks facility applications are also available online at www.salina-ks.gov. Fees for City permits are different than the fee for county permits. City permits require a non-refundable application fee due at the time of application. The facility permit fee is calculated based on the square footage of the tent.

For all other incorporated towns in Saline County, please contact their city clerk for regulations regarding fireworks facilities.
