Equipment at a small milling company in New Cambria was damaged by fire over the weekend.
Lt. Stan Fruits with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office tells KSAL News that a fire at Farmer Direct Foods, 5641 Mariposa Road ignited when the flow of grain stopped and the grinding stones sparked a fire into the filter on the dust collection system just before 7:30pm on Saturday evening.
Rural Fire District #5 responded to the facility to fight the fire.
Damage to the equipment and loss of product is estimated between $10,000 and $15,000.
No one was injured in the incident.
