Allen Joseph Sorell, age 59, left this earthly life on Tuesday, December 2, 2020 at the KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. He was born on June 15, 1961 in Concordia, Kansas to Larry and Madonna (Blochlinger) Sorell.
Allen attended Concordia Schools.
He worked for O.C.C.K in Concordia for many years, assembling bolts for breakaway basketball boards, and also helped train many other employees with their jobs. Allen was very Independent individual having owned his own home in Concordia for many years. He enjoyed playing the guitar and liked Reba McEntire, and most of all spending time with his family and friends, he will be truly missed.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia and Special Olympics Kansas. Allen participated in Basketball in the early 80’s in the Special Olympics Kansas where they won a State Title.
Allen is survived by his parents, Larry and Madonna Sorell, LaPlata, MO; 6 brothers, Nathan Sorell (Bonnie), Columbus, NE; David Sorell (Colette), Salina, KS; Shane Sorell, Auxvasse, MO; Jacob Sorell (Melissa), Hot Springs Village, AR; Jerry Sorell (Gaylene), Beloit, KS; Vance Sorell (Sandra), Glendo, WY; a sister, Cynthia Henderson (Mike), St. Francis, KS; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Sorell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia with Fr. David Metz officiating. Burial will follow at the Glasco City Cemetery, Glasco, Kansas.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 from 1-8 pm with a Vigil service at 5:30 pm and the family greeting friends after the vigil all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
