Betty Marie Kerr,,76, of Salina, Kansas, entered into eternal rest on February 17, 2024. Born on July 2, 1947, in Clay Center, Kansas to James Floyd and Margaret (Stevenson) Logan, Betty lived a life marked by compassion, creativity, and service.
Betty was a graduate of Clay County Community High School and furthered her education at Washburn University and Stormont Vail School of Nursing. Her lifelong dedication to nursing saw her caring for patients at St. John’s Hospital, as well as the Penn and Santa Fe Campuses of SRHC, for over four decades. Betty’s role as a nurse and supervisor was not merely a career but a calling, through which she nurtured countless lives with her expertise and kindness.
An active member of the Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Betty found joy in her faith and the fellowship of her church community. Her myriad of interests included gardening, sewing, crocheting, and engaging in various crafts. Adept with her hands, she created beauty and comfort, her handiwork a testament to her loving spirit. Betty was an avid puzzle solver and maintained a family calendar that kept her loved ones connected.
Surviving Betty is her devoted husband of 55 years, Maurice Kerr; her cherished daughters, Marci McCullough and Mindy Johnson; esteemed son-in-law, John Johnson; adored grandsons, Allen and Cameron Johnson; and a host of relatives and friends who were dear to her. Betty’s legacy also extends to her unofficially adopted daughters, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, niece Emily Kerr, father-in-law Melvin Kerr, and son-in-law Terry McCullough.
A service to honor Betty’s life will take place at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 825 E. Beloit Ave., Salina, Kansas. The family suggests that memorials in Betty’s name be directed to the American Cancer Society or Sunrise Presbyterian Church.
Betty Marie Kerr will be fondly remembered as a beacon of love and care, both within her family and the broader community. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the honor of sharing in her journey.
