Brian Hammond, age 69, of Concordia, KS, passed away on Wed., Sept. 5, 2018 at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS. He was born on Oct. 11, 1948 in Clay Center, KS to Howard “Salty” & Lois M. (Houdashelt) Hammond.
Brian attended school in Agenda and graduated from Hillcrest High School in Cuba, KS. He attended Cloud County Community College. Brian worked as an auctioneer with Gieber, Gieber & Hammond auctioneering in his early days. He also managed the elevator, ran the Co-op gas truck; owned & operated a grocery store & worked in human resources at ABB-Raymond. Additionally, he and his father were cattleman and ranchers together.
He married Debbie Liby on May 13, 1992 in Salina and she survives the home.
Besides his wife, Brian is survived by sons, Bradley (Mitzi), Skiatook, OK, Jeff (Shari), Lee’s Summit, MO & Jarad (C.J.), Clyde; his mother, Lois, Agenda; step-daughter, Jennifer Mackey, Wichita; grandchildren, Tyler & Jack Hammond, Chase & Carson Hammond & Madison, Marlee & Mylee Hammond & step grandchildren, Brennen Acree & Haidyn Mackey. Additionally, Brian loved all types of pets, especially his dog, Katie.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard in 2015 & a step-son, Richard J. Liby in 2009.
The family will celebrate Brian’s life at 10:00 am on Sat., Sept. 8, 2018 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with his friend, Millard Trecek officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Visitation will be on Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 from 1 to 8 pm with family greeting friends from 6-7 pm at the funeral home.
