Carl Acil Bishop, age 90, of Onaga, died January 5, 2021, at Onaga Health and Rehab.
He was born January 23, 1930, in Delia, Kansas, the son of Cleon A. and Leatha (Breese) Bishop.
On June 5, 1955, in Duluth, Kansas, he was married to Lois Ruth Abitz at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death.
In June 2003 he married Norma June Oberhelman. She preceded him in death.
In November 2012 he married Barbara Phillips at the Havensville Christian Church in Havensville, Kansas.
Carl was a proud member of the Saline County Sherriff’s Reserve and the Saline County Sherriff’s Mounted Patrol and Rescue Squad.
Carl worked construction for many years. He then worked in maintenance at Kansas Wesleyan and retired from Marymount College in Salina, Kansas. He then worked for Midwest Security in Salina, Kansas.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of Onaga; three children: Lynnette Chard and her husband Randy of Palco, Janet Brown of Salina, and Susan Schindler and her husband Matthew of Manhattan; four step-children; his sisters Dorothy Cline of Onaga, Mary McDougal and her husband Gerald of Havensville, Helen Rose of Onaga; his brother Glen Bishop and his wife Sharon of Rossville; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was especially proud of his family and loved them dearly.
A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Mortuary, Salina, Kansas on Wednesday, January 13th at 1:00 PM.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the Havensville Christian Church in Havensville, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Duluth, Kansas Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina, Kansas, or Havensville Christian Church, Havensville, Kansas, or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
