Carolyn Clara Finger Urban, 86, of Salina, passed away May 29th, 2022. She was born September 30, 1935, in Larned, to Francis and Clara Finger. Carolyn attended Larned schools and graduated from Marymount College of Nursing as an RN. Carolyn met the love of her life, Gilbert Urban, at a polka wedding dance. They were married shortly after on October 12, 1957, in Larned.
Carolyn was a devoted mother to her 5 children while continuing her career as a pediatric nurse at St. John Hospital and later at Salina Clinic. She enjoyed attending Saturday night dances with Gilbert and friends, gardening, sewing, and singing in the Sacred Heart Cathedral and St. Mary’s Church choirs.
Survivors include: her children Cathy Reynolds (Jim), Connie Holloway (Sam), Cheryl Mersman (Ron), Teresa Marshall (Eric), and Joe Urban (Renee); 19 grandchildren; 23 great-children; and sister, Mary Lou Wheeler. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, parents, granddaughter, Elise Holloway, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Visitation will be 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, with vigil service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 2, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
