Cecil Leslie Haney, 80, of Salina, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021. He was born October 1, 1940 at Olney, Oklahoma, to Earlon Leslie Haney and Adel Haney. Cecil graduated from Bromide High School, Oklahoma in 1958, and moved to Johnson, KS after graduation. From 1961 to 1963 he served in the United State Army. He was a police officer for the Garden City Police Department from 1966 to 1969. Cecil and Family then moved to Salina where Cecil worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe, for thirty years, retiring in 2003. Cecil was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 62 where he served as Post Commander for two terms, 40 & 8 of Olathe, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and The Railroad Retirees.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Douglass Haney and William F. Haney. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Dorothy (Owen) Haney of the home; sons Scott Bradley and wife Denna Haney, Lakin, KS, Peter C.L. Haney Jr., and significant other Diana Goheen, Wells, KS and Michael Todd and wife Michelle Haney, Ulysses, KS; grandchildren, Bradley, Wamego, KS, Garrett and Maureen Haney, Littelton CO, Tyler Haney and Emily Gutierrez, El Dorado, KS, Shayne Haney and Brooke Banks, Wells, KS, Luke and Catherine Haney, Hays, KS, Montana and Kaiya Maas, Lakin, KS, and Cora-Renae, Lakin, KS; eight great grand children; three sisters Louise Broyles, Ulysses, KS, Shirley Gleason, Salina, KS, and Barbara and Steve Wiens, Haysville, KS; Sister-in-laws Sarah Haney, Atoka, OK, Beverley Haney, Greeley, CO and Lina Brown, Manhattan, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Ryan Mortuary. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitations will be Tuesday August 3, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary.
