Charles “Chuck” Donald Rapp, 76, of Salina, passed away Friday, March 31st, 2023.
Charles was born in Wichita, Kansas on September 5, 1946, a son of Betty (Hill) and Ralph Rapp and was a lifelong resident of Kansas.
He married Catherine I. Moore on March 16, 1971 in Garfield, Kansas and had 2 children, Troy and Trinnette.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine; daughter, Trinnette Devere (Jerry Tillett), of Salina; sister, Connie Gabbert, of Cape Fair, Missouri; 9 grandchildren, Jessica, Carlie, Jordan, Chey, Hayven, Hunter, Jack, Alex, Kamryn; 10 great grandchildren; nieces, great nieces, and great nephew.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Troy Rapp; brother, R.D. Rapp; and his dog, Boomer.
Chuck attended Northwestern School of Taxidermy in Omaha, Nebraska during the summer of 1963 and graduated from Larned Senior High School in May 1964. He joined the United States Navy and served from August 1964 to August 1967. He served one year of duty in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart after being wounded in Vietnam in 1965.
He attended college at Wichita State University and earned and Associates Degree in Business Administration, worked for 32 years with Kansas Gas Service and retired in September 2003 at the age of 56.
Chuck was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Volunteer Connections, Geocache Club, Salina Hiking Club, Rendezvous Hiking Club, Kansas Historical Geeks, Abandon Kansas Club, Kansas Morel Club, and the Veterans of Foreign War.
He was a person who loved his family deeply. He lived a good and honorable life, believed everyone dies, but not everyone lives. And he lived a fun and successful life most of his life.
Cremation was chosen.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 6th at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home and Crematory.
