Charles “Chuck” Johnson, 79, passed away, November 25, 2020,at Bethany Home after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Chuck was born October 9, 1941, in Salina, Kansas, to Kenneth and Grace (Bengtson) Johnson. He graduated from Assaria High School, earned his B.A. from Bethany College, and M.B.A. from Kansas State University. He married Monette Burnison in 1965 and celebrated their 55th anniversary in June.
Chuck was the owner of Johnson’s Elevators and later was a wheat marketing specialist for AgriPro/Syngenta. He received many awards and held leadership positions in the Wheat Industry. A retirement highlight was a wheat named in his honor “CJ,” featuring a logo with Chuck’s signature bucket hat which he wore on his beloved field days. Chuck’s greatest joys: his family and friends, music, the Riverfest, and pizza.
He is survived by his wife, Monette; his three daughters, Disa Rice (Scott) of Platte City, MO; Brijin Johnson (Aaron Pepkowitz) of Parkville, MO; Becca Maxwell (Greg) of Ellinwood; three grandchildren; Mya and Mette Maxwell, and Carson Gardner; and step-grandchildren, Abby and Lilly Pepkowitz. He is also survived by his two sisters; Deanna Nelson and JeanAnn Knappenberger (Kurt), and many close relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Marlin Nelson.
