Cheri Lund, 61, of Salina, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018. Cheri was born in DeKalb, Ill., Nov. 11, 1956 to Ron and Shirley Russell. She graduated from North Park University in Chicago with a B.S. in Nursing. She married Eric Lund, Sept. 1, 1979. She worked as a nurse in Salina, KS and faithfully raised three sons.
Cheri played a vital role in the women’s ministry of First Covenant Church for three decades, where she helped lead the Women of the Word ministry. Through her study of scripture and deep intimacy with the Lord, she provided spiritual guidance to her family and many women. Her compassionate wisdom provided support for new families through the Pregnancy Service Center. Cheri’s ceaseless prayer covered many people.
Cheri was a selfless servant to all in her life—dedicated wife, steady and nurturing mother, dutiful daughter, caring aunt and sister, loving grandmother, joyful friend. She brought light and warmth and grace to every life she touched. Cheri enjoyed skiing, quilting, playing charades, and discovering the world through reading and traveling.
Survivors include: her husband, Eric; parents, Ron and Shirley; siblings, Ronnie Russell (Kristen), Beverly Wegrzyn (Kevin), and Bunny Mirrilees (Mike) of the Chicago area; son, Andrew and wife Melanie, their children Truman and Conrad; son, Tyler and wife Lydia, their children Addyson, Amelia, Ayla, Micaela and Rosa; son, Chris and wife Emily; her mother-in-law, Helen Lund; sister-in-law, Donice Applequist (Roy) of Salina; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Russell.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, with family present from 5-7, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, at First Covenant Church, Salina, with burial to follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
