Dale “Larry” Corkins

Dale “Larry” Corkins of Salina, KS formerly of Hutchinson, KS.

Larry passed away in his home after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Hutchinson, KS January 16,1942. Beloved son of Bernice L Corkins and Elizabeth (Hamilton) Corkins.
Larry married Claudine Woodall on October 25,1963. They shared almost 59 wonderful years together.

Preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Ted Richardson. Son Larry Dale Corkins and daughter Rebecca Lynn Bone. Siblings Faye Clark, May Oxenreider, Marie Clark, Gary Corkins, Jerry Corkins and Bobby Corkins. Sister-in-Law Dixie Long.

Survived by his wife Claudine Corkins and daughter Candie Higginbotham (Tony) of Leavenworth.

He was gramps to: Dale Martin (Jessica), Justin Corkins (Jessica), Ashlye Baxter (Jordan), Andrew Arnold (Shannon), Tyson Wooten, Whitney Corkins (Drew), Aaron Higginbotham (Felicia), Samantha Smith, Shane Higginbotham and 17 great grandchildren.

Dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Retired from the Kansas State Fair after 24 years of service. Was a retired member of the Hutchinson Noon Lions Club. Member of the Buhler High School Class of 1960.

Larry loved to “fix” things. Loved western movies and watching MASH. He was a big John Wayne fan. Crafted miniature covered wagons and stagecoaches for his grandchildren.

Playing cards and dice games with friends and family was something Larry and Claudine enjoyed together their entire marriage.

Holidays and family gatherings were important to Larry. He looked forward to the fun, the love, the hugs and leftovers.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life at the Sand Hills Event Center in Hutchinson, KS will be held June 25th at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Kansas Honor Flight in Care of Ryan Mortuary.
