Darrel R. Copeland, 89, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Salina Regional Health Center.
He was born on August 6, 1933 in Sparks, Nebraska, the son of Fred and Clara Ethel Copeland. He was a farmer/rancher in South Dakota until retirement.
He served in the United States Army and trained at Fort Riley, Kansas and was sent to Germany during the Korean War. He enjoyed family and especially traveling. He spent many hours doing leather work and playing guitar.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Bonnie of 40 years, three brothers, and 6 sisters. He remarried in 2002 to Irma Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Irma Smith-Copeland; son, Fred (Lori); daughter, Cindy; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, five step-children; eight step-grandchildren, two great step-grandchildren, and sister-in law, Betty Copeland of Valentine, Nebraska.
Cremation was chosen and a graveside service will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Valentine, Nebraska at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the VFW of Valentine, Nebraska, in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina, Kansas 67401.
