David G. Canfield, age 92, entered into rest on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit, San Antonio, Texas. David was born July 18, 1928 in Belleville, KS to Ivan M. & Glennora (Smahel) Canfield.
David served in the US Army during WWII, alongside his father and brother. Upon his discharge, he completed his education and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He worked as the business manager for the Gelvin-Haughey Clinic. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588 and a former member of the Elks Lodge. He was instrumental in establishing the Con-Kids Wrestling Club & was an avid fisherman.
David was the loving husband of Gloria Canfield for 48 years; they were married on December 27, 1968. She preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 2016.
David is survived by seven children; Mary (Canfield) Davis, San Antonio, TX; Michael Lambert (Hoberta), Joyce (Lambert) Jasper, Donna (Lambert) Huber (Doug), Terry Lambert (Robin), David L. Canfield (Lisa), all of Concordia, and Kimberly (Canfield) Lester (Dennis), Phoenix, Arizona; 13 grandchildren; Christopher Bieker, Timothy Bieker, Benjamin Davis, Leah and Keaton Lambert, Amber Lindberg, Lexie, Linzie, and Lacie Huber, Gage Canfield, and Taylur, Tyler, and Tara Boling & 15 great-grandchildren.
David is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; parents; brother, Robert & son in law, Jerry Jasper.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Jim Winter officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Military Honors by Ft. Riley, American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588. Visitation will be from 1-8 pm with family greeting from 6-7 pm, Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at the funeral home.
