Deborah “Stubby” June Cahoon

Deborah June “Stubby” Cahoon, 70, of Salina, passed away Monday, February 21st, 2022.

Deborah was born in Kansas City, Kansas on March 22, 1951, a daughter of the late Cloe and Charles Steele.

Stubby was married to Bruce Cahoon for 50 years.

To my loving wife, who supported me in all I did, who kept me on the job, let me play in music groups for 37 years, and supported arts and sciences.

She was a musician, singer, dancer, and actor, who became a wonderful wife and mother. She graduated from Turner High School and Marymount College with her RN/BSN Degree with a minor in English. She was a global thinker, always thinking of others before herself. She was also a proud mother of a Berklee College of Music graduate, her son, Matthew.

She was a loving mother, who encouraged her son to be fearless in the pursuit of his dreams as an artist and musician. She supported his interest in cosmetology, poetry, literature, and all arts.

She worked at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina Clinic with Dr. John Richards, and Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Her hobbies included reading, cooking, baking, dancing, acting, drama, musicals, and movies.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce Cahoon; son, Matthew Cahoon; sister, Claudia Gaddis; two brothers, Lynn Steele and Kevin Steele; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been chosen and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
