Delbert L. Tholstrup, 89, passed away peacefully at home on August 22, 2022. He was predeceased by parents, Harry and Grace (Thoman) Tholstrup of Concordia, Kansas and brothers Dale, Donald, Elbert, and Darold Tholstrup. He is survived by his wife Peggy (Johnson) Tholstrup, formally of Scandia, Kansas. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in October. He is also survived by their three sons, Richard (Christy) of Spring, Texas; David (Janice) of Little Mountain, South Carolina; and Spencer (Susan) of Pearland, Texas.
Delbert is survived by eight grandchildren, Nisha (Shannon) Worsham, Sean (Brittany) Tholstrup, Greta Beach, Whitney Tholstrup, Sarah (Neil) Ostenfeld, Courtney (Austin) Phillips, Caitlin (Keith) Hearon, Erin (Jared) Scallan and nine great-grandchildren.
His surviving siblings are his favorite sister, Darylene (Ray) Rock of Salina and brother, Dennis Tholstrup of Concordia. He has many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Belinda Rock and Jeri Wimer for their many helpful contributions to him, which allowed him to stay in his beloved home.
Delbert graduated from Concordia High School, and later enlisted in the Navy, married Peggy, and moved to Florida, where he served for four years. Following his enlistment, he moved his family to Wichita, KS and worked for Beechcraft and Boeing. From there he moved to Salina, was a rancher and worked for the United States Postal Service. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, serving on church council and as an usher. As a couple and individually Delbert was an excellent Bridge and Pinochle player. He considered his greatest life accomplishment to be raising three wonderful sons.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. all at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Salina. Burial will follow in Salemsborg Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. Del Strecker will preside.
