Dennis Nicholas Streit, known to all as Denny, Dad, or Grandpa died on December 12, 2021 in Salina, KS at the age of 83. Born August 14, 1938 in Cawker City, Kansas to Henry Nicholas and Eva Anna (Gengler) Streit, the oldest of 10 children. Denny graduated from Cawker City high school in 1956, joined the Navy and then married Patricia Malsbury in 1957. They had children Teresa Nelsen, Kathy Perez and husband John, Michael Streit and Roberta, Renee Mann and husband John, Darcee Murray and husband Jimmy. Denny then married Julie in 1985 and welcomed Mandi Clark and husband Sean, and Erin Dugger into his family. Denny also has 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
When Henry died, Denny returned home from the Mediterranean to take care of the family and the farm, continuing his Navy career in the reserves. In 1971 Denny began his 31-year career with UPS, driving package cars in the Salina area for 10 years, then over the road for the remainder of his career. Denny retired from UPS in 2002 and spent his retirement with is family, gardening, and staying up on current events. Denny always had a kind word and a ready smile, loving to see family and friends for a visit.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Ryan Mortuary from 4-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial is on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 10 a.m. with a rosary at 9:45 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Fr. Keith Weber as celebrant. Burial will follow in All Saints Catholic Cemetery.
