Denny Yates

Dennis “Denny” James Yates, 73, of Salina, Kansas, was called to his heavenly home, Sunday, January 09, 2022.

Denny was born in Shenandoah, Iowa on June 11, 1948, a son of the late Catherine (Whitten) and Harold William Yates.

He worked as a postman for 16 years, at the Home Depot for many years and then later went on to retire from Watson Electric as a commercial electrician.

Denny enjoyed shooting, sports, fishing, but his greatest passion was woodworking. He was a master carpenter and practiced the craft his entire life. Dennis enjoyed having projects to do, whether his own projects or helping out a friend.

He was a proud member of the United States Army, where he served in the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge. He was awarded the following accommodations, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal and the Army Accommodation Medal.

Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Terry Yates, of Salina, Kansas; two sons Bryon Yates, of California, Kevin Yates, of Salina, Kansas; a step son, Eric Bradshaw, of Salina, Kansas; two sisters, Jean Bennett, Sondra Rogers; brother, Warren Yates.

He is also survived by grandchildren; Matthew Yates, Natalie Yates and Arik Yates.

Cremation has been chosen.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 28th at Carlson – Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina, Kansas with Jon Fillipi officiating.
