Deryl Dean Marsell, 86, of Salina, Kan., passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023. He was born on June 25, 1937, in Green, Kan., to George and Edna (Lowry) Marsell.
Deryl graduated high school in Ada, Kan., and attended Fort Hays State University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1956. He was a career federal employee and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Springfield, Mo. In retirement, he volunteered at CoxHealth Medical Center for 22 years. He and his wife, Mary, loved to travel, seeing 48 of the 50 states. His idea of fun consisted of playing all types of games, working on crossword puzzles, playing golf, and dancing and singing with Mary. He was a BIG KU basketball fan and loved the St. Louis Cardinals too. His great sense of humor will be missed the most.
Survivors include his sons, Darren Marsell (Kris), of Lorraine, Kan., Doug Marsell (Karen), of Russell, Kan., and Kent Pack, of Kansas City, Kan.; daughters, Rhonda Carryer (Robert), of Ogden, Kan., and Kim Pack, of California; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary (Skala) Marsell; and sisters, Mildred Russell, Wanda Andrews, and her husband, John.
The visitation will be from 12-8 p.m. on Friday, July 28, with family present from 5-8, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, at Ryan Mortuary. Deryl will be laid to rest next to Mary at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Springfield, Mo.
