Dominga Nava, Salina, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021. She was born on January 27, 1947 in Salado, TX to Eleno Lopez and Eufemia Zamarripa-Ortega. Dominga worked for IBP in Holcomb for 27 years. She spent most of her life in Garden City. She retired in 2008 and moved to Salina to be closer to her children. She enjoyed reading and listening to music;, she loved to go dancing and to the casino. She loved making homemade tortillas for the family. She never missed an episode of “Family Feud” (Steve Harvey). She was always the life of the party and loved to be surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her daughters; Sophia Otero Russell (Stormy), Wichita, Melissa Calderon (Jesus), Isabel Nava, Vanessa Nava and Cassandra Nava, all of Salina. She has 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; four sisters; Yolanda Corral, Holcomb, Juanita Venturi, Rochester, MN, Carmen Tarin, Deming, NM, Diana Ortega, Garden City and one brother, Jose Ortega, Greeley, CO.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Manuela Andrada, Bernadine Porras, Durelia Camilo and Gloria Rosas and one brother, Roberto Ortega.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, Salina. Vigil services will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday evening, Dec. 14, 2021 also at the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Burial will be in the All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Salina, KS.
