Don Morgan Obermeyer, 69, of Palmetto, Florida, passed away at Tidewell Hospice, Saturday, January 5, 2019, and is now in the presence of his Heavenly Father. Don was born to Delbert W. and Marilyn F. (Herrington) Obermeyer, May 14, 1949 in Herington Kansas.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Del W. Obermeyer. Don is survived by his sister, Marilyn Rolfs (Jack) of Salina, KS; three nephews, Austin Rolfs (Katie), Travis Rolfs and Jackson Rolfs; and two great nephews, Greyson and Nolan Rolfs.
Don graduated from Herington High School, class of 1967, graduated from Hutchinson Community College, class of 1969, and attended classes at Wichita State University until he was drafted in December of 1970. He served in the U.S. Airforce and was stationed in Japan.
Don was retired and currently had been employed part-time with the U.S. Security Association in Florida.
In his younger years, Don truly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also had an interest in airplanes all his life, starting out with the fun of remote-controlled airplanes to then attaining his private pilot single engine license while he resided in Kansas.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date at the Geneseo Cemetery, Geneseo.
