Doris (Soderstrom) Carlson,92, affectionately known as Sody, The General, The Queen, passed away May 23, 2024, at Bethany Home in Lindsborg.  She was born November 5, 1931, to LaVerne (Sody) and Amanda (Siemsen) Soderstrom in Lindsborg. She attended schools in Lindsborg including Bethany College, where she received her degree in Elementary Education. On June 5, 1954, she married Bill Carlson. They both taught school in Salina and were charter members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. In 1974, Bill accepted the job as administrator of Bethany Home and they “went home”. Doris was a long timer active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, ardent supporter of Bethany College, and a member and volunteer for many other organizations. But their lives revolved around their true life’s calling, Bethany Horne; until each met their Lord after ultimately residing there. She’ll be remembered for many things, among those her sometimes sharp wit that could blow your hair back if one was not properly prepared,

Survivors include: daughter, Sara Shogren (Brad); sons, Brad

(Helen), and Andy (Kelly); grandchildren, Katie Greenwood (Seth),

Tracy Shogren (Cathy), Dalen Carlson, Breton Johnson (Micah), Kessley Rhodenizer (Zack), Curtis Carlson, and Macie Carlson; eleven great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister

A memorial service will be at Bethany Horne in Lindsborg on Sunday, June 9 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation was chosen. There will be a private family burial and no visitation. The family requests those attending to wear bright colors.
