Dorothy “Dottie” Cole, 100, passed away Friday, January 24,2025, at Eaglecrest Senior Living. She was born in Neosho County on April 7, 1924 to Fletcher and Irma (McFadden) Havely.
Dottie attended grade school in St. Paul, KS and graduated high school from St. Francis High School in 1942. After graduation she traveled to California to be with her sister, Marge. She married Frank Cole on July 29,1945 in Glendale, CA. and they were married for 72 years. After their first child, Stephen was born, they moved to Frank’s family farm in Beverly, KS., where she lived until moving to Eaglecrest in 2010.
She was a homemaker her entire life. She made custom draperies along with her sister, Jeannette, from home for Stifel’s Department Store in Salina, KS for many years. Dottie loved doing crossword puzzles, playing bridge, playing gin rummy with Frank, putting together jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by 2 daughters and 3 sons: Carolyn (Stephen) Smith, Cathy (Randall) Steiner, Michael (Julie) Cole, Richard Cole and Frank Jr. (Sheri) Cole; 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, one sister, Wilha Finley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, son, Stephen Cole and grandson, Spencer Cole and 8 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 at Ryan Mortuary. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, February 22, 2025 at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, KS with burial following in Beverly Cemetery. A meal will be provided at the Beverly Township Hall afterwards.
