Dorothy (Maltbie) Gerdes, 93, Salina, passed away on Wednesday September 28, 2022. She was born to Bessie and Ernest Maltbie, of Amorita, OK on March 4,1929 and graduated from Amorita High School. She had 2 brothers, both preceded her in death.  Dorothy married Robert N. Gerdes of Amorita, OK on May 28, 1947. They had been married 71 years when Bob passed away on August 21, 2018.

They have 3 children, Cynthia Smith (Lowell), Kansas City, MO; Ronald Gerdes, Houston, TX; Richard Gerdes (Lisa), Salina. They have 7 grandchildren; Shawn (Kelli) and Kevin (Laura) Smith, Sara (Kindler) Nurnberg (Todd), Bryan (Susan) Gerdes; Christi, Ryan and Brandon (Sierra) Hysong; and 16 great grandchildren; Kaitlyn and Alex Smith; Kevin, Theo and Esmee Smith; Taylor, Carter and Tessa Kindler; Grace and Molly Nurnberg; Eva, Roselyn and Gabriel Gerdes; Breanna and Cameron Hysong; Keegan, Kaden, and Hannah Budreau; Jordan and Emmilyn Hysong and Eleanor and Ezra Hysong.

Dorothy and Bob were Charter Members of Christ the King Lutheran Church and very active there.  Dorothy worked for and retired from the USDA in Salina.

Memorial services will be at Christ the King Lutheran Church at 11:00, a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2022.
