Dwight L. Gage, 82, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023. He was born December 19, 1940 in Great Bend to Leonard and Olive (King) Gage.
Dwight married Carolyn (Olmstead) Gage in 1972 and they enjoyed fifty years together.
Dwight, also known as Gabe, was a Schwan’s truck driver for 35 years making countless trips from coast to coast. After retiring he continued his passion in farming/agriculture, first running the family farms in Hoisington and Smolan. He also began growing produce for the Salina Farmers Market and could be found each week at his Gabe’s Sunflower Oasis booth. In addition he provided produce for Prairieland Market. Dwight was a giving man and would donate produce weekly to the Salina Food Bank.
Dwight enjoyed relaying his knowledge about gardening or soil to anyone who would ask, if you had the time for a long conversation.
He had a love for his dogs over the years, they were always his special companions.
Dwight was preceded in death by his son, Scott Henry and his parents, Leonard and Olive Gage.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Gage; daughter, Danita Schartz (Matt); son, Robert Gage (Melanie); son, Rick Gage; daughters, Brenda Henry and Wendy Sommers (David); grandchildren, Amie Sommers, Nathan Gage, Alisha Gage, Nicole Kennedy, Michael Kennedy, Davey Kennedy, Brandon Gage and Kendon Gage; and sisters, Janice Arth and Eileen Covert.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023, at First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis Ave, Salina, KS.
