Dwight M. Swisher, 93, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born October 30, 1930 in Gypsum, KS, to Lawrence and Cora (Andrew) Swisher.
Dwight graduated from Gypsum High School in 1949 and proudly served four years in the US Navy. He retired from the telephone company after 29 years at which time he and Donna built a new home southeast of Gypsum, KS where they lived for 30 years. When the home was mostly built Dwight kept busy for another decade working maintenance for OCCK. Outside of work Dwight was a handyman and loved to hunt, fish, garden and raise goats.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Donna Mortimer Swisher; daughters, Terese Bogart (Earl) and Christine Slubowski (Mark); favorite grandchild, Megan Slubowski (Tomas Dominguez); brother, Leonard Swisher (Inga); Tucker the cat; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private burial will be at Gypsum Cemetery, Gypsum, KS with a memorial service at a future date.
