Earl R. Liggett, 95, of Salina died Friday, July 20, 2018. He was born September 13, 1922 and lived in Lincoln, KS until moving to Salina in 2000.
He served four years in the US Army during WWII.
Earl’s business career was at Quartzite Stone Co in Lincoln – he started as a bookkeeper eventually was a co-owner of the firm before selling it and retiring at age 62.
He traveled extensively in his retirement with his first wife, Jean Liggett, who died in 1997. He married Arleta Rhudy Liggett in 2000 and they, too, traveled throughout the world. Arleta died in 2017.
A lifelong supporter of mental health, Earl was a board member and past president of the Central Kansas Mental Health Center for over 20 years – serving as both a Lincoln and Saline County representative of the board. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, and a 73-year member of the Lincoln Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Steve and Jean Liggett of Leawood, KS; Jay and Deb Liggett of Tucson, AZ; and granddaughters Emily Liggett of Boston, MA and Abby Liggett of Prairie Village, KS; and a brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Shirley Liggett, Oklahoma City, OK
A service to celebrate the life of Earl R. Liggett will be held Friday, August 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 E Neal Ave, Salina, KS. Lunch will be served immediately after the service.
