Edward “Dale” Anderson, 91, died peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Presbyterian Manor in Salina, Kansas. He was born in the New Gottland community of McPherson, Kansas to Ed and Pearl Anderson on January 28, 1931. Dale attended McPherson High School, graduating in 1949.
In 1951, he married Flora Farnsworth; they were married 62 years before her passing in 2013. Dale served in the United States Air Force in San Antonio, Texas from 1951-1955. From there, he attended the University of Wisconsin and then returned to McPherson where he started his banking career at Citizens State Bank. In 1970, the family moved to Salina where Dale continued his banking career with First National Bank. After many years in banking, he began a new career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. where he stayed until he retired.
In 1975, Dale moved the family to his beloved Rainbow Hill Ranch which gave him a place to follow his passions of raising and racing quarter horses. Many of Dale’s horses were successful and won multiple events around the country.
Dale is survived by his two daughters, Karen Anderson Collins and Dalene Anderson-Westhues; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Larry Anderson and Royce Anderson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora; and brothers, Dennis Anderson and Loren Anderson.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
