Evelyn Louise Ford Livengood, 91, of Salina, stepped into heaven on February 21, 2023. She was born on January 27, 1932 on a farm near Oak Hill, Kansas to Lyman and Bessie Ford. Evelyn’s early years were spent in central Kansas then the family moved to Kansas City when she was in fifth grade.
When Evelyn was about 12 years old, she met the love of her life, Kenneth Livengood. They started dating when she was 14 and were married on June 14, 1950 right after she graduated from high school. Kenneth served for two years in the Army and afterwards they settled in the Kansas City, Kansas area where they raised three children: Dale, Denise, and Deanna. Evelyn worked for the Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education for several years. After an early retirement, Kenneth and Evelyn traveled to all 50 states, Mexico and both Western and Eastern Canada. Kenneth and Evelyn moved to Salina, Kansas in 2013 and they celebrated 70 years of marriage together before Kenneth passed away.
Evelyn passed into heaven on February 21, 2023. Waiting for her was her Lord and Savior, Jesus, her husband, Kenneth, and their daughter, Deanna, as well as Evelyn’s parents and her brothers, Merle and Clayton.
She is survived by her son, Dale (Barbara) Livengood; daughter, Denise (Gary) Stambaugh; her grandchildren, Jeff Livengood, Brad (Elisa) Livengood, Rob (Sydney) Anaya, Samantha (Jonathan) Howell, Dionne Stratton, Laromy (Hailey) Stratton, Gina (Roger) Buswell, and Nick (Deniece) Stambaugh; as well as 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn VanWaters, and her brother, Bernard Ford.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 22, 2023 at 10:00 AM at The Light KC Church, 10001 W. 88th Street, Overland Park, Kansas.
Memorials may be made to the Salina Pregnancy Service Center (Evelyn crocheted numerous booties for the new moms) in care of Ryan Mortuary in Salina, Kansas.
