Floyd “Stan” Standridge, Jr., 81, Salina, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2024. Stan was born September 19, 1942 in Sallisaw, OK, the son of Floyd Sr. and Voyce Irene (Brewer) Standridge. He held 2 Masters Degrees and was proud to be an educator for 44 years. Stan spent most of his extensive career as a guidance counselor at Salina South High School where he supported countless young people as they navigated the path through high school and the first steps beyond graduation. He was honored to be recognized as 1998 Kansas Master Teacher of the Year and was selected to be a Fulbright Teacher Memorial Fund to Japan honoree. He held many leadership positions in various professional, religious and civic organizations throughout his life and career. Stan was a devout Christian having served his home church, Salina First Church of the Nazarene in countless ways over the years. He loved doing genealogy research, reading American and Egyptian History, learning about NASA and space science, and was the best listener and problem solver in the whole world.
Most importantly, Stan was known by all who knew him as a man of God with great integrity who was loyal, steadfast and deeply devoted to his beloved wife, his family and his community.
He is preceded in death by his Mother and Father.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon, daughter Jennifer Segal (Peter) of Cumberland, ME, son Brian (Bridgette) Standridge of Salina, grandchildren Quincy Segal, Charles Segal and Jack Segal; sister Dorthea (Bob) Baker, of Barnsdall, OK; his brothers and sisters-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews, and his bonus “found” family Sheila and Joe Barber, Devin Barber, Desmond Barber, Denae (Brandon) Harris, and their children.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 11-2 pm and Funeral Service at 2 pm, both at the First Church of the Nazarene.
