Frederick Dean Herman, 91, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Sunday, January 28th, 2024.
Fred was born in Luray, Kansas on November 1, 1932, a son of Ollie Pearl (Parks) and Fred C. Herman.
Survivors include two daughters, Deanna Williamson (James), of Maple Hill, Kansas; Delores Shively (Rick), of Apache Junction, Arizona; two sons, Ronald Herman, of Oakley, Kansas; Richard Herman (Andrea), of Park City, Missouri; and life partner, Joyce Rediker, of the home.
He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Christopher Torres (Amanda), Matthew Williamson (Rebecca), Jennifer Bumgarner (Jeremy), Michael Herman, Alyssa Herman; 7 great grandchildren; and 1 step-great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ollie Herman; his wife, Arelene Herman; 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Fred married Arelene Paget on May 20, 1951. They enjoyed 45 1/2 years of marriage before her death in 1996.
He was always an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. His grandchildren learned the game of pitch from Grandpa.
He shared his life with Joyce Rediker for 26 years. They enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing rummy, and just spending time together.
Fred’s family expanded to include her five children, Debra Hansen of Wichita, Kansas; Terry Harrington (Dorene), of Salina, Kansas; Kimberley Stewart (Brian), of Junction City, Kansas; Kelly Rediker (Dawn), of Wichita, Kansas; and Katrina Arensman (Zac), of Salina, Kansas with 27 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Friday, February 2nd, at Carlson – Geisendorf Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 3rd at Carlson – Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina, with Rev. Dan Denning officiating.
Burial will follow at 12:30 pm at Luray Cemetery, Luray with Matthew Williamson, PhD officiating.
