George William Schaefer fell asleep in Jesus on April 7, 2021 at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas following a short battle with a myocardial infarction and subsequent brain hemorrhage. He awaits the return of his Lord.
He was born on August 29, 1955 in Casper, Wyoming.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold, and June (Smith) Schaefer, and an infant sister, Millicent Ann.
Survivors include his wife, Mona Schaefer of the home, children Roena, Stephen, and LuAnne, stepchildren Brianna and Cameron, 3 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren AdaLiz and AleJandro, sister Cindy Schaefer Traynor of California, nieces and nephews, and 2nd and 3rd cousins.
George worked as a travelling RN in numerous ERs and ICUs throughout the United States and in skilled long-term care towards the end of his career. He was a medic in the National Guard prior to completing nursing school.
George enjoyed his Church family and spending time with them both in formal Worship service as well as individually. He studied the Bible extensively and gave Bible studies to numerous people over the years.
He had a sense of humor and enjoyed cracking jokes and being silly when the occasion called for it. He had a heart for people and donated his time and talents to those in need.
George was a loving husband to his wife Mona, supporting her in her spiritual walk, career as an RN, and daily challenges and trials of life.
A memorial service will be held on Sabbath (Saturday) April 17, 2021 at 1:30 PM at the Salina Seventh Day Adventist Church.
