Gerald Lanoue, age 84, lifetime Concordia resident, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. He was born on November 5, 1934 in Concordia, Kansas to Dona and Gretchen (Hill) Lanoue.
Gerald attended Concordia Schools. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged.
He married Shirley E. Bergstrom, on November 10, 1955 in Concordia they were united in marriage for 61 years. She preceded him in death on September 15, 2016.
Gerald enjoyed woodworking, a craftsman and most of all spending time with friends and family. He was a member of the American Legion Post #76 and past member of Moose Lodge both of Concordia.
He was a Truck Driver for the Cloud County Highway Department for many years before retiring.
Survivors include his, five children, Bob Lanoue (Carol), of Lawrence; Dave Lanoue, Lisa Woods (Mike), Don Lanoue (Cheryl), Kim Allen (Ron) all of Concordia, 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, parents, Dona and Gretchen, 2 sons, Larry and Bruce Lanoue, 3 brothers, Howard, Eugene and James Lanoue, 3 sisters, Dorothy Cyphers, Dolores Schleuder, Aretta, Harris.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Friday, May 17, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas with Pastor Bob Burns presiding. Inurnment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Military honors will be conducted by the US Navy and American Legion Post #76 Concordia.
