Glorianne Johannes, age 93, was born Glorianne C. Heroneme in Hays, Kansas, November 23, 1929. She was the daughter of Rose E. (Storm) Heroneme and Leo J. Heroneme and was raised in Junction City, Kansas.
She graduated from St. Francis Xavier’s school in Junction City in 1947 and St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She worked at Ellsworth Community Hospital and also for Dr. Max Murrison at Mowery Clinic for 40 years finally retiring in 2001.
On June 4, 1951, she married Eugene Johannes at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina, Kansas. They had one daughter, Geananne Rose Johannes, born June 17, 1958.
She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Friday Duplicate Bridge Club and other bridge clubs, the American Red Cross, The St. John’s Hospital Alumni, and The Salina Regional Health Center Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene; daughter, Geananne; granddaughter, Bobbie; and parents, Rose and Leo Heroneme.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Amanda Ratliff and husband Verdel Ratliff Jr., North Carolina; three great grandchildren, Glorianna, Verdel III, and Lenora Ratliff, all of North Carolina; son-in-law, Bill Varnadore, Salina; three grandchildren, Michelle Tomes, Wichita, Nathan Varnadore and wife Kelly Varnadore, Bennington, and Johnny Varnadore and wife Cora, Salina; along with 8 additional great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; and special friends, Lynn and Lyle Huncovsky of Salina.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., with inurnment at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Salina.
