Greta Ann Gibbs, 80, longtime Salina resident, passed away on August 27, 2019. Born December 3, 1938 in Garden City, she was the oldest daughter of Ancel & Margaret (Black) DeRemus. Greta and her late husband, “Whitey” spent more than 25 years as over the road truck drivers; as a team accompanied by their dog, Petra. Thru their many years of travel, Greta was proud she made it to 48 States, Canada and Mexico. She was an accomplished baker and was known for her crescent rolls, pies & breads; winning many ribbons & awards at county and state fairs. Her other hobbies included games & cards, sewing, crafts and gardening. She was a member of Salina Heights Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James “Whitey” Gibbs, brother, Lloyd DeRemus, and granddaughter, Sondra Bedker. She is survived by daughters, Patricia Magee, Mesa, AZ, Sharon Unruh, Galva, KS, Beverly Gomis, Mesa, AZ. Rita Balazor, Salina, Lori Hamby, Phoenix, AZ. Greta has 15 grandchildren, 25 great grand children and siblings, Teresa Dodds, Washington, KS, Linda Lecklider, Salina, Sharon Havercamp, Ellsworth and David DeRemus, St. Petersburg, FL.

Memorial Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday August 31, 2019 at the Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Please dress casually; jeans acceptable. In lieu of flowers; memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Support Group or the Bavaria cemetery. For more information or condolences go to www.ryanmortuary.com
