Harold Russell Waggoner, 80, of Salina, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022. He was born in Lyons, Kansas and was the son of Mary (Oden) Waggoner and Royal Glenn Waggoner, Sr. He attended Sterling Elementary School and graduated from Sterling High School in 1960. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Dental Unit in Baumholder, Germany.
On April 13th, 1968, he was united in marriage to Linda Justus at Salem Church of the Brethren, west of Nickerson. After a honeymoon to San Antonio, they lived in Hutchinson until 1980, when they moved to Salina.
In January 1966, he went to work for Singleton-Joyce Optical, where he mentored under Earl Singleton. Later, he worked for Drs. McCormick, Mogel, and Young. After moving to Salina, he worked for Duffens Optical until he retired in 2007.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, infant brother, Albert; brothers, Wayne, Clifford, and Alfred Waggoner; and sister, Luella Niday.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Michelle Baxter; brother, Glenn Waggoner; an extended family, Randy Whitley (Gail); grandsons, Randall Whitley, Levi Whitley (Katie), Matthew Whitley (Jaelyn), Yeoman Whitley (Aubrey), Taylon and Meechie Whitley; granddaughters, Xanadu Whitley, Desiree Whitley (John Miller); great-grandchildren, Kiara Rugg, Airiana Wogoman, Jackson and Tessa Whitley, Hunter, Aiden, and Justice Miller, Justin, Harper, Esther, Judeth, Joanna, and Decklan Whitley.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 825 E. Beloit, Salina, Kansas. Interment will be at a later date.
