Helen Adair Gregg (née Peterson), 72, of Salina, passed away August 29, 2024. Born July 24, 1952, in Rhode Island, Helen lived a life marked by her devotion to education, faith, and the arts.
Helen pursued a successful career as a history teacher, imparting wisdom and a passion for learning to her students. She held a Master’s degree in education, which she utilized to inspire and educate countless young minds throughout her career.
A member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Helen was deeply involved in her faith community. Her commitment extended beyond attendance as she actively contributed by creating videos for church events, blending her spiritual life with her creative talents.
An accomplished painter, Helen also expressed her love for the arts through vibrant canvases, often sharing her work with family and friends. Her artistic spirit was an integral part of her identity, bringing beauty and joy to those around her.
Helen was a loving, kind, and generous person, always thinking of others first. She is survived by her husband, Larry Gregg; daughters, Heather Dennis and Elizabeth Freeman; grandchildren, Parker Roth, Ryleigh Roth, Madison Freeman, Drake Freeman, and Haley Freeman; great-granddaughter, Rhenlee Roth; brother, Terry Peterson; sister-in-law, Susan Peterson; and niece, Ingrid Peterson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Louise Peterson, and brothers, Dale and Robin Peterson, along with her nephew, Sven Peterson.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2024 at Ryan Mortuary. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
Helen’s life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, as a beacon of love and generosity in her community.
