Irma May Serocki, 80, died July 9, 2021. She was born in Elmo, MO on December 4, 1940, the daughter of Ernest and Arletta (Jones) Raines. She is the youngest of 12 siblings and is the last to have passed away. In her teenage years, she worked at the post office bringing mail from the train, watched over her nieces and nephews and worked at a restaurant. She graduated from high school in 1958 and moved to St. Joseph, MO. She was married in 1960 and lived to bear four boys. In 1964, they moved to Abilene, KS where she and her husband owned the Dairy Queen restaurants. In later years, she worked at Rainbow Discount Store, Russell’s Restaurant, Tony’s Pizza for over 18 years, and her last occupation as the friendly driver for Sunflower Taxi. She retired in 2014 and spent her time playing Bingo and playing with her beloved dogs.
She will forever be known as Granda Puddins and would answer, “what are you up to or how are you” with: “5’2″ with Eyes of Blue”.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Brant Alan and William Todd (Debra), her 11 siblings and both of her parents..
She is survived by her sons, Terry Serocki and Bryan (Regina) Serocki; grandchildren, Chasity Serocki (Joe Bernaix), Stephanie (Adam) Arnett, Billy Serocki, Ashleigh (Brandon Schremmer) Serocki, Alexander Serocki, Kory Serocki, Karah Serocki and Mason Serocki, Brooke Dougherty, and Katelyn Dougherty; great-grandchildren, Debra, Waylon Kathryn Midred and David Bernaix, Zachary and Ayden Lavin, and Autumn Dougherty.
There will be a Funeral Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July17, 2021 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, Salina. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina. Visitation will be Friday, July 16, from 4 until 8 pm with Vigil services offered at 7:00 pm that evening.
