Jack Wayne Davis, 87, of Salina, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020 at home with family. Jack was born July 23rd, 1933 in Esbon, KS to parents Floyd and Alta “Lorene” Davis.
He attended Emporia Teachers College his freshman year in high school where his father was getting his master’s degree. They moved to Salina when he was a sophomore and graduated from Salina High School and Brown Mackie Business College. He worked at School Specialty Supply for 25 years and was retail manager and served one term as president of Salina Downtown Merchants. He owned Korner Store and Korner Stereo in downtown Salina in the late 1970s. He retired in 2003 from Dillard’s. Jack was a type 1 diabetic for 85 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Jack Milleson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Barbara; a son, Tim, of the home, and son, Greg (Angie) of Salina; sister-in-law Shirley Milleson of Salina; grandchildren Zack (Jamie) Davis of Kansas City, Alexys (Nick) Neuburger of Salina, LaCrista Brightbill (Jeremy) of Salina, Cole Brightbill (Jess) of Overland Park; great grandchildren Ally Mae and Adalyn Neuburger of Salina. He was also grandpa to Alex, Kyle, Wyatt, and Beckett Rector, and Lacie Bohn. Jack was a loving husband, father, and grandpa. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 3rd from 5-7 pm at Ryan Mortuary with the family receiving friends from 5-6 p.m. A private funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, December 4th at the University United Methodist Church. The service will be streamed on the church Facebook page. Burial will follow at the Salemsborg Cemetery, Smolan. Masks and social distancing will be required.
Memorials may be made to University United Methodist Church where he was a member for 72 years.
