James B. “Jim” Ryan, 70, of Salina, passed away Friday June 29, 2018.
He was born in Salina Oct 5, 1947, the son of Guy Ryan, Jr and Mary
Jane “Merk” (Ludes) Ryan. Jim was a graduate of Salina High Central
and earned a bachelor’s degree at Emporia State University. He worked
as operator of five McDonald’s Restaurants in Salina and Junction City
for twenty-six years. He also worked for U.S.D. 305. Jim enjoyed
exercise and outdoor activities. He ran, biked, swam, hiked and
climbed mountains. He was a bowler, golfer, pool player, gardener and
sports fan and he loved spending time with his family. Jim was
preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include four children, Tara Bartholomew (Steve), Cara Ivey
(Jerry), Jimmy Ryan (Deanna), and Heather Ryan; two brothers, Guy, III
(Rhonda) and Jerry (Rhonda); five grandchildren, Grace, Anna, Nathan,
Makenna and Colton and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday evening at the Ryan
Mortuary with Vigil Service at 6:30 PM. Memorial Mass of Christian
Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Sacred heart
Cathedral with inurnment of ashes following in the Mt. Calvary
Cemetery. Memorials are to the Alzheimer’s Association.
