James Francis Jarvis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend – passed away in his sleep in Salina, Kansas on Wednesday, October 5th, 2022. He is preceded by: his parents, his wife Kay, his daughter Lynn, and his grandson Jake. He is survived by: his son Doug, his grandchildren Ashley, James (Alicia), and Alexis, five great grandchildren, and Dr. Rafael de’Sa.
Jim was born to W. K. and Frances Jarvis in Salina, Kansas on February 12th, 1936. He graduated from Salina High in 1954 before attending Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, where he met his wife Kay (Douglass) Jarvis, and graduated in 1979 after a lengthy break.
Jim served 23 with the Kansas National Guard retiring as a Major, had a 45 year career operating Jarvis Tox-Eol Termite Service, and a 55 year career as a dedicated Landlord.
Jim and Kay married on September 7th, 1958 and celebrated 61 wonderful years together. They welcomed their first child, Lynn, in December of 1960, and their son Doug, in December of 1962. Jim was a lifetime resident of Salina, Kansas, and cradle to the grave at the First United Methodist Church.
Jim enjoyed working, volunteering, watching sports, outdoorsmanship, spending time with family, and most of all, because he never met a stranger, sharing a joke or a story with anyone who would listen.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 20th, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 21st, at Salina First United Methodist Church, with graveside service immediately following in Roselawn Memorial Park.
